Coronavirus update - Thank you for your continued support! With schools shutting down, teachers are in dire need for classroom supplies to enable remote learning for their vulnerable students. We are working closely with schools for you to help with Time, Money and Resources.

School Children Need Help: You Can Be The Solution

Over the last decade, despite an overall increase in the education budget, spending per pupil in the UK has fallen by as much as 8% in the past decade. Head teachers are warning of a £ 5.7 billion funding shortfall in 2019-2020. This is affecting schools' ability to offer activities to students that will make them well-rounded adults and has intensified a number of social problems, including screen-addiction, social isolation and childhood obesity.

We, at LetsLocalise, believe we have found an ingenious way of connecting schools to the fountain of goodwill that, historically, has proved challenging for headteachers to tap into. We also believe that, regardless of the political complexion of UK governments in the next decade or so, the financial constraints on state schools will not ease substantially. Our proposal is an imaginative means of narrowing the needs gap without increasing the burden on the taxpayer.

We believe that our communities are the key to helping children succeed. By bringing schools and their surrounding communities together we can help that goodwill flow into schools, bringing skills, resource and enthusiasm into the lives of our country's children. At the same time this brings valuable purpose and fulfilment to those in the wider community, be they parents, businesses or those who just want to contribute.

At LetsLocalise, a GDPR compliant and a trust-enabled digital platform, we want to achieve the goal of helping connect you to your schools and encouraging you to get engaged in making life better for children. In particular, we will help schools respond to Ofsted's increased emphasis on pupil personal development programmes by unlocking opportunities for pupils to access a wider range of offline activities with the help of local communities and businesses.

How You Can Support Your Local Schools

Support local school

The LetsLocalise platform identifies activities in schools in your area that everyone can connect to, collaborate with and contribute to. And best of all, it allows you to contribute in whatever way suits you best, whether that's with your time and energy, your money or your expertise. The platform uses advanced technology that has not been previously made available to schools with a view to creating connections - engagement loops - that, by design, are unrivalled, durable and reinforcing.

If you'd like to volunteer, our Website will show you times during which local schools have said they could do with extra help. Simply select a session that works for you and we'll put you in touch with the school to sort out the details.

LetsLocalise also supports traditional fundraising, offering the capability to accept pledges as small as 10p a day. On our platform, schools can highlight specific projects they need help in completing, so you know exactly where your money is going. And, at 10p a day or at the cost of a coffee a month, you can follow and support multiple schools with a single click on LetsLocalise.

But these aren't the only ways to help out. To see all of the ways you can contribute, check out the list below.

Why Should You Get Involved?

Get Involved Banner Background

Since 1999, the number of children in certain sectors of our education system has risen by as much as 70% but government spending has not kept pace. The result is that some schools have cancelled school trips, cut back on the number of teaching assistants and begun closing early.

Across the UK, school premises often look tired, extra-curricular activities risk becoming 'nice-to-have' extras rather than a critical part of pupils' education and Special Education Needs (SEN) services have atrophied. The LetsLocalise platform allows you to contribute in multiple ways to help restore these key aspects of school life.

We make it easy for you to do that. By letting you pledge as little as 10p a day or volunteer for one or two hours a week, it might seem like we're not asking for much. But, given the potential scale and scope of our platform, even small pledges will add up and have a big impact. By joining our network, you'll encourage others to do the same and, by building closer community ties across the country, there will be other positive spin-offs beyond supporting schoolchildren, such as reducing adult social isolation by becoming part of our support community.
